Yep thanks Kari. As I said on the Imdb message board, it is such a shame that the film was not talked about more and that Anne had a negative experience of filming in Ireland!
I do like, however, that they got drunk for the last scene so that they could look 'haggered'! Like Anne could ever look haggered?!
And the choice of clips to play was great- the way Jane blushes when she turns around to find Tm standing right behind her!

Yes, I agree... though what Anne said about Ireland was about the weather of Ireland, not the Ireland itself... and really, lots of things she can say about it if Letterman asked the right questions. A pity...

But anyway, the hang-over one is cute. Though I bet purist Janeites will not be happy about it...

Hello Ladies!
Well, if I rememebr correctly P&P wasn't talked of much (at least not here in the states) and it turned out to be huge. A quality movie that fans love will always do well, maybe not at the theater but with DVD sales.

I ADORE the last scene of the movie. Knowing they were hung over is funny but when I was watching that scene I forgot all about that cause I was dying inside! I was expecting to be broken after the movie but there were so many positives to take away. aah... xo

I think Anne's response when she turns around at the ball and is embarrassed is spot on. James' response is perfect. Although I had seen that scene already it was still so fun because the audience reaction was great!

btw - Anne was on Regis & Kelly yesterday but I missed it. Maybe someone can send it to you.

Oh dear Kari, thanks a lot for the encouragement. I do admit that I was disappointed with many bashing of Becoming Jane, mostly of its 'historical inaccuracy'. But really, I should not care about it. I love the movie, the cast, and the characters. And I love you all for dropping by here and saying hellos!

Yeah, is it not funny about the hang-over! Jane Austen hang-over! I think she did... mention it in one of her letters :-D True, I've read it before...

I also love that scene when Jane bashed Tom and he was really just standing behind her.

Oh, we should go out to the theater together ladies! That would be great! You want to have the second viewing, Kari? When?

Thanks for the Regis&Kelly. Hope YouTubers have it!

I'm looking forward to the Regis and Kelly interview. Maybe they'll dig up some other fun stories like the 'hangover' one out of Anne.

I'm also glad that other people were slightly non-pulsed about the interview as well. But oh well, Anne as always was entertaining.

I love behind-the-scenes stories! I remember, way back in the day when they were filming hearing rumours about a "hung-over death scene" ... couldn't believe it then, but it's hilarious now. :p

Regarding the bashing over 'historical accuracy' - really, argh! Either you enjoy the spirit of the film (ie: the truth of the tale), or you don't.

If you want the bare-bones, facts of the story, there is plenty of reference material and reading out there - fact without any of the fiction - enjoy that!

I think it is fitting tribute that they captured the spirit and magic of the story.

Yes, beside "historical inaccuracies", there were "facts" that they altered, for example Jane & Tom's instant attraction in real life became an initial clash (with so much more beneath) but this is a simple filmmaking staple of creating as much conflict to be resolved as possible. And it didn't really alter the spirit of the story. :)

Yeah... the ones opposing BJ might plan to make 'The Real Jane Austen' documentary now... which might be interesting to watch as well...

Anyway. Historical accuracies... we have tried to cover it as much as possible in this blog. Not all, but I daresay that Jane Austen truly thought of Tom Lefroy as someone special, even until her late years... And there are indications that Tom Lefroy indeed thought highly of Jane...

And the initial clash, I agree Michelle, it might be fabricated, but it's so interesting to watch! And after all, the real Jane was a sharp-tongue woman who liked to tease Tom a lot. A lesser-level of 'arguments' might indeed occur between Tom and her.
